Another big name retailer opens

Just a month after Specsavers announced it will be opening in Welshpool, another big high street brand has opened in town.

Card Factory quietly opened its doors (pictured) this week on the retail park behind B&M, adding to the more than 900 shops that they run throughout the UK and Ireland.

The shop focuses on the value and mid-market segments of the UK’s large greeting cards market, and also offers a range of other products, including small gifts and gift dressings.

Their first store opened in Wakefield back in 1997 and since 2005.

We’ve asked The Card Factory for a comment, but they have yet to do so.

It’s been an interesting year for the town with major retailers Aldi, B&M and Greggs all opening and Costa announcing a flagship café for January. It has also inflamed the debate about big brands squeezing local independent shops and cafes.
