Welshpool will officially welcome the Festive Season this weekend when the Christmas Lights will be switched on Friday night, followed by a Winter Festival on Saturday.

The festivities get underway on Friday from 6pm with free craft sessions in the Corn Exchange at the Town Hall run by the Crafty Pixies Art Studio, as well as Community Stalls. The Angel Voice School will perform outside the Town Hall.

At 6.15pm, a procession, which includes the Newtown Youth Band, reindeer and ‘Santa’, will leave the Tourist Information Centre, arriving at the Town Hall ready for the lights to be switched on by the Carnival Queen, Macie Lockwood, at 6.30pm. Following the lights, Santa’s Grotto (located in the Indoor Market) will open for free visits to Santa.

Refreshments will be on sale in Welshpool’s Indoor Market, with the market stalls also open throughout the evening for Christmas shoppers.

On Saturday, Welshpool will be buzzing with the Winter Festival taking place from 10am-4pm, with street, craft and charity stalls.

Visitors to the event can enjoy perusing goods on offer at the street stalls located on Broad Street and High Street. Over 40 craft and charity stalls will be located in the Town Hall as well as Market stalls in Welshpool’s Indoor Market.
