Welshpool Livestock Sales report on a sale at Buttington Cross, Welshpool on a very wintery Monday 11^th December 2017.

PRIME LAMBS

An entry of 3111 prime lambs met with an average of 178.12ppkg.

Super Lights (119) to 149ppkg from EW Howells, Esgair Yr Hydd. Average of 135.79ppkg.

Lights (499) to 184ppkg from CE & GJ Roberts, Rhydycil. Others to 179ppkg from DLG Price & Co, Bryncoch. Average of 161.11ppkg.

Standards (607) to 205ppkg from J Balmer, Tycanol. Others to 197ppkg from MRM Matthews, Tanyfron. Average of 174.69ppkg.

Mediums (1142) to 235ppkg & 232ppkg from T K Robinson, Tynewydd. Others to 230ppkg from T H Vaughan & Son, Maes Mochannt Uchaf. Average of  184.87ppkg.

Heavies (674) to 202ppkg from T H Vaughan & Son, Maes Mochnant Uchaf. Others to 200ppkg from T K Robinson, Tynewydd. Average of 174.86ppkg.

Over Weights (58) to 175ppkg from J E Powell, Cil Pentre. Others to 174ppkg from E D Jones, Lower Coedylade. Average of 160.55ppkg.

CULL SHEEP (774)

A much smaller entry of 774 cull ewes due to the wintery conditions. Ewes averaged £43 this was very similar to the previous week. Overall ewes were in stronger demand, big suffolks and mules presented FW Humphreys & Sons, Brook House achieved £99. R B Tudor, Glanystwyth, presented strong well fleshed ewes which achieved £87. Rams topped at £95.50 from T M Davies, Wynnstay Farm.
