Move to save Youth Services

MyWelshpool has been told that early moves are afoot to try to save the town’s youth club, which will close as part of Powys County Council’s plans to save cash.

The club has run for decades at the old swimming baths (pictured), but Powys is keen to offload the property to trim its spending in the next financial year.

However, preliminary talks are believed to have taken place with a view to the building being taken over by another entity in order to retain the youth services.

Previously the Town Council has stated that amidst Powys County Council austerity cuts, they had a policy to “save services”.

The parties involved will need to move quickly though as the sell-off is expected in the early months of 2018.
