As concerns grow over the extent of drug use in Welshpool, the local police have reacted with some positive results over Christmas and another successful raid prior to the weekend.

A drug dealer was caught red handed on New Year’s Eve looking to sell Class A drugs in the town centre, and now a raid on a local property has come up trumps.

Our story on the issue prompted a several comments about the availability of drugs locally and the numbers of people involved. But the police are fighting back.

“Welshpool officers executed a drugs warrant this evening,” said a spokesperson from the station. “Positive result, with various drugs being seized. Interviews to follow.”

We can all play our part and if you have concerns regarding drug use or supply, contact the police on 101 or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.

PICTURE: Knock, knock. Police cut through a door to launch their drugs raid.
