A new series of monthly entertainment shows in the Church House, Welshpool, begins on Saturday.

Held to raise money for the town's 1940s weekend in September the evenings offer first class entertainment and dancing along with a supper and pudding.

The series begins with a 1940s Evening when Popular vintage vocal female trio the Bluebird Belles take us back to the wartime era with the sounds of The Andrews Sisters, Vera Lynn, Anne Shelton, Gracie Fields and many more!

The girls encourage the audience to join in with well-loved singalong tunes and guests can also look forward to traditional British anthems Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory - a rousing finish to a truly memorable evening's entertainment.

Also Included is a 1940s fun quiz, Spitfire tombola and much more!

On Saturday, March 3, comedy impressionist Carl Brent returns with his popular one man show that also features an excellent vocal spot allowing patrons to dance.

On April 14, Eddie P returns with his selection of classic rock’n’roll and country numbers before becoming an Elvis Presley tribute act. Both the Carl Brent and Eddie P shows sold out early in 2017 so early booking is advised.

May 5 welcomes the Big Band Dance with Moonlight Serenade, who dress in 1940s style G I Uniforms along with suitable and appropriate props to relive the golden era of the Glenn Miller Big Band Sound, creating a true 1940s ambience.

Singing hits from the 50s 60s & 70s Ricky Storm will be appearing on June 2.

Tickets for these events are £10 in advance from Welshpool Jewellers or Flaunt It or pay on the door at £12. Admission includes supper. Patrons are advised to bring their own drinks.

Monies raised from the evenings will go towards staging the 1940s Weekend on September 28-30.
