Police officers have been spotted as pupils returned to school this week to monitor problems caused by reckless and illegal parking during the school run.
With some parents continuing to flout the law by parking in areas they shouldn’t, or on double yellow lines, officers responding to complaints have been seen at Guilsfield and Maesydre this week.
Reporting back on the situation at the Welshpool school, the station tweeted: “Joint patrols with Powys County Council at Maes-y-Dre school in Welshpool taking a look at parking issues. We discovered that the adjoining carpark has capacity for all the vehicles at school pick-up time, meaning no one had to park on the Double Yellow lines.”
Problems with illegal parking near schools are commonplace across the area, particularly during the afternoon pick up time after 3pm.
