Welshpool fire fighters called upon their specialist training and equipment to perform a rescue with a difference on Thursday.
The station’s swift water rescue team were mobilised at 3.52pm after reports of animals stranded in water at a farm near Buttington.
On arrival, the crew found that two cows had become stuck in the River Severn. Lines and strops were deployed and the story had a happy ending with the cows escorted back to dry land.
