It’s been a good start to the cricket season for Guilsfield who chalked up another 19 points from a winning draw against Column in Shropshire Division Four.

It proved to be a great debut for the club’s sidescreen, with in-form opener Sam Griffiths smashing a wonderful 104 and Dave Lewis adding 58 as they cruised through to 240-8. Bobby Gill then spun his way to 5-18 as the visitors were whittled away for 132.

Newtown have found their feet following a comfortable win in the Shropshire Premier League.

After being put in to bat by Frankton, the mid-order pairing of Tom Foulkes (60no) and Jack Morris (41) saw Newtown through to a respectable 172-8.

The bowlers then stepped up, with Dave Anthony (4-42) and Bryant Galpin, who took 4-18 from 12.3 overs, saw them bowl the hosts out for 116 in the 41st over.

When Welshpool restricted Albrighton to 159-7, it was game on, but the batsmen couldn’t follow on the lead from their bowlers as they fell well short on 118 all out, with skipper Russell Cadwallader top scoring.

Montgomery’s record breaking Division Two heroics made the news earlier in the week here.

Meanwhile, veteran all-rounder Adrian Foulkes was in imperious form for Llanidloes as he crafted an incredible and unbeaten 178 against Coton Hall who elected to field.

Foulkes inspired his team through to 309-4 from their 40 overs, and then took 3-8 as they dismissed their visitors for just 67.

Meanwhile, Montgomery II bowled Wem II out for just 88 in Reserve Division One and few problems reaching victory in the 29th over with four wickets down.

Newtown II were forced to concede their Reserve Division Two game at Willey II.

In Reserve Division Three, it was a disappointing day for Welshpool II who were bowled out for just 114 by Pontesbury II with Sean Roberts top scoring four short of his half century. Pontesbury only lost two wickets in reply.
