School re-opens tomorrow

The Church In Wales Primary School’s Gungrog Road site will reopen tomorrow (Wednesday) after receiving a clean bill of health from an inspector.

The Health & Safety inspector has been on site today after the floods last week resulted in the school being closed this week.

The officer stated: “I am satisfied that the works that were required have been undertaken in a safe manner and that there is no risk to pupils, staff or visitors from the asbestos.”

The site will be open from 8.50am, meaning there is no Breakfast Club as the hall is currently being used to store all the equipment from the classroom, library and foyer.

“Once the carpet has been laid in all the affected areas, and the equipment put back, Breakfast Club will resume,” the school has stated. “Please can we ask that all children bring a packed lunch as there will be no dinners provided for the same reason. If your child is in receipt of free school meals, please contact the school to express a preference for sandwich fillings (ham, cheese or tuna).”

Parents and carers are advised to keep an eye on the school’s web site for updates.

“Cleaning staff have been on site every day to ensure that any flood damage is cleared away,” the statement continued. “All staff have also been on site every day working hard to ensure that there are teaching spaces ready for the children for tomorrow.

“Thank you to those who have expressed support and understanding for the situation that we are in.”
