Going to the poles

One of Welshpool’s most notable attractions is set to undergo a facelift with the help of local kids.

The totem poles outside Powysland Museum are now ready for new pictures with staff cleaning them up ready for some new artwork. The picture spaces have been painted magnolia and the frames black so they are ready to be decorated with pictures by children from the local schools.

“The museum provides paint, brushes, aprons and somewhere to wash the paint off free of charge – what we need is for schools to bring their pupils to the museum for an hour or two – the ideal end-of-year treat,” said a spokesperson.

“Once finished the totem poles will add colour and fun to the small sculpture park around the museum and help to enhance Canal Wharf – a peaceful and green place to relax and look at the canal.”

Schools can book their classes in by calling 01938 554656 or email powysland@powys.gov.uk
