The North Montgomeryshire Volunteer Bureau (NMVB) organised a celebration for national Volunteer’s Week at Llanfyllin Community shop.
Local volunteers and voluntary organisations came together to enjoy tea and cake and an award ceremony took place with the new Mayor of Llanfyllin, Simon Baynes, handing certificates to volunteer drivers who give their time to provide Community Transport to vulnerable people within our community.
Mayor Baynes said: “It’s my honour to be asked to give out certificates to volunteers who have made an outstanding contribution to Llanfyllin and the surrounding area.”
Sharon Baines, NMVB Manager, said: “NMVB is here to help local people find suitable volunteer opportunities with local organisations and to help organisations find volunteers.
“This celebration is a way for us to express how valuable volunteers are and the massive difference they make within the local communities they serve. Volunteers are amazing people and their achievements are never ending.”
Two of the Community Shop volunteers were also shortlisted for the Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations (PAVO) Volunteer of the year award.
