Supermarket launches ‘quieter hour’

A shopping initiative has been launched that will help a number of families in the Welshpool area.

Morrisons Welshpool, along with The National Autistic Society, have developed the Quieter Hour, when the store will commit to being quieter and more accessible for customers.

“It will happen every Saturday between 9am-10am when we will make adjustments in store to accommodate customers with enhanced needs,” said a spokesperson.

During the hour, the store will automatically dim the lights; in-store radio will be switched off; no tannoy announcements will be made; and no cages will be on the shop floor.

The kiddie rides will be off or muted and checkout out beeps will also be turned down.
