Apprentice Product Support Technician/Engineer

The Role

The Apprentice Product Support Technician will work closely with our Product Support Engineers to learn and develop their skills, enabling them to provide high quality support to our customers. The successful candidate will follow a rotation program to learn about the business, developing a network of contacts whilst giving them the knowledge and skills to enable them to become a well-rounded Engineer, capable of making a significant contribution to the growth and development of the company. As part of their development the post holder will also be required to work towards a relevant, recognised Engineering qualification which will require attendance at college.

Working with the Product Support Engineers in the Engineering team, the successful candidate’s main responsibilities will include:

·          Providing world class pro-active and re–active customer technical support.

·          Setting up tests and experiments in the Technical support laboratory to find solutions to reported problems or confirm the optimum drive set up to meet customer requirements.

·          Testing competitor products to benchmark CT against the competition.

·          Identifying requirements for new documentation in the form of knowledgebase documents / technical bulletins and creating them as appropriate.

·          Identifying maintenance and update requirements for all product documentation through the lifetime of a product as hardware and software changes.

·          Ensuring the Supportsuite ticket database and knowledgebase is the focus for all support queries.

·          Ensuring excellent communication within the team to provide visibility to all.

·          Studying an appropriate course to develop understanding of the core principals of Electronic and Electrical Engineering such as: Pearson BTEC L3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.

  Qualifications, Experience and Profile:

·          GCSE level education including Maths and English grades A-C

·          First level Electronic / Electrical engineering qualification desirable

·          Excellent communication skills

·          Demonstrable interest in Engineering

·          Eager to learn
