Governors to decide head’s fate

Frustrated parents who say they have been kept in the dark by an investigation into Ardwyn School head teacher Eirios Hall have been told to expect a verdict in the next few weeks.

Mrs Hall has been suspended since February 25 last year when an undisclosed investigation was launched but her employer, Powys County Council, has never revealed the nature of the allegations made against the head teacher.

But it appears the year long wait for answers could be drawing to a close after Powys County Council confirmed last night that the decision was now in the hands of the school’s governors.

A statement read: “An independent investigation into allegations against the Headteacher of Ardwyn Nursery & Infants School has been concluded.  The findings of this investigation will be considered by a panel of governors, which has yet to meet. The headteacher will remain suspended until this process has been completed.”

Parents have become increasingly frustrated by the lack of progress, and the lack of information, since Mrs Hall’s suspension, prompting one mother to tell mywelshpool this week it was “ridiculous”.

Last night a school insider confirmed: “If it is decided there will be a case to answer, then a formal disciplinary hearing will be required, which we would hope would be completed by the end of spring term at the latest.”
