It may have ‘only’ been a sundial that was stolen, but residents have come out in a wave of anger due to the fact that it was taken from Church grounds.
The sundial, which has been located at the entrance of St Mary’s Church for as long as most people can remember, was noticed missing at the weekend, prompting an appeal for information.
It sparked disgust from social media readers with comments labelling the thief a “lowlife” and “scum” with one commenting that “Church ground obviously isn’t Sacred Ground to some anymore”.
Sue Williams, from the Church, told us: “Sometime recently, some scumbags stole the sundial from outside St Mary's Church. It has been there longer than any of us can remember. If anybody saw anything or if anyone tries to sell you one, please contact Welshpool Police Station.”
