As members look forward to the final meet of the summer season on September 12, Welshpool Women’s Institute can look back on a busy few months.

The successful summer started back in May when several members won prizes at the Powys Momontgomery Federation Spring Show at Trefeglwys.

In July, member, Dianna Barlow, hosted a cheese and wine party at her beautifully renovated house next to the meeting place at the Methodist Church. Also in July, the group enjoyed a garden party at the home of member, Dianne, where they were entertained by her friend Charlie.

The July meeting, chaired by President Linda, saw us reminiscing over scrapbooks put together to commemorate the new millenium in 2000 and the centenary of the WI in 2015.

We also brought in cuttings photos and other memorabillia from past years and also photos of themselves as young children. Hilarious guessing games followed!

The remainder of the evening was taken up with planning next year’s programme of meetings and events followed by a supper provided by Mair and Margaret.

The next meeting will be held on Sept.12th at 7.30pm when Delyth Monk will induct us into the mysteries of soap making. anyone thinking of joining us will be made very welcome, enquiries to Linda on 01938 552267 or
