A popular Welshpool man been honoured by the Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades Association for the tireless work he undertakes for the local branch.

Colin Rogers has been praised for his efforts, particularly in supporting the needs of local veterans from conflicts, including World War Two.

A statement by the Welshpool RWF Comrades Branch announced: “The annual reunion of the Royal Welch Fusiliers Comrades Association took place at Wrexham. At the event, our Branch Chairman’s sterling work was recognised by his fellow comrades, with the awarding of the Comrades Medal.

“We pass on our hearty congratulations to Colin, he’s done so much for the welfare of our members, in particular the WW2 veterans. Much respect, Colin.”

Colin himself wanted to deflect the attention away from himself and simply told us that three other members of the branch have been awarded the honour - Ted Jones M.M., Jack Ellis M.B.E., and Brian Dando - as well as the late Harold Jones.
