The Town Council has delivered on its promise to reopen Llanfyllin’s public toilets, hoping that they can boost visitor numbers to the town.
Powys County Council has ended its funding for public toilets, so, like Welshpool, Llanfyllin have taken on their management themselves.
The ladies, gents and the disabled toilets have been spruced up and will be checked every day to keep them clean and tidy.
The Town Council will foot the bill for their upkeep, but an Honesty Box is on the wall outside for donations.
The Mayor of Llanfyllin, Cllr Simon Baynes, said: “It is a matter of pride for Llanfyllin to provide well maintained public toilets for visitors and shoppers in the town.
“Many towns and villages have closed their public toilets but the Town Council believes that it is important to invest in such facilities in order to support the shops, businesses and local organisations in Llanfyllin.
“The public toilets are very well used and give visitors a very favourable impression of our town.”
