Elderly man injured in accident

There were afternoon traffic disruptions on Thursday when an elderly man was apparently struck by a van close to the town centre.

Diversions were put in place after part of the one-way system was closed to allow emergency services to deal with the incident that took place at 1.56pm on Church Street.

Paramedics spent considerable time tending to the man, before taking him to hospital by ambulance where his condition is unknown.
