Have a say on one-way changes

12/09/2018 @ 09:25

A major overhaul to Welshpool’s one-way system was announced on Monday, but they won’t go ahead until we have all had the opportunity to make our views known.

Changes will include reverting the back road to two-way traffic and sorting the bottle neck outside the former Spar (pictured), and with other tweaks and safety measures included, planners hope that once and for all the much maligned road system will finally tick.

The plans are on permanent display at the Tourist Information Centre until December with staff briefed so that they can answer questions, and there will be an open day on Friday, September 14, when Welsh Government, Powys County Council and Welshpool Town Council staff will all be at the Town Hall with full plans available along with consultation forms. The day will run from 10am-7pm.

“The Town Council has been pressing hard for a number of years for changes to be made so we urge as many people as possible to make their opinions known,” said Robert Robinson, Town Clerk.
