06/10/2018 @ 09:39

The search has started for a new Chief Executive to lead Powys County Council’s transformation.

The new Chief Executive will replace Jeremy Patterson, who parted company with the authority after a lengthy period of sick leave with the role demanding a salary of up to £138,000.

Dr Mohammed Mehmet, who had been Chief Executive of Denbighshire County Council, was brought in on a short-term basis to draw up the council’s transformation programme which the new arrival will be tasked with implementing.

“Our new Chief Executive will join us at an exciting and important time in the council’s development, taking forward a bold and innovative programme of change,” said Mohammed.

“We are looking for an inspiring leader with a strong focus on performance and people, to bring collective leadership to our significant improvement and transformation agenda.

“The council’s ambitious corporate improvement plan - Vision 2025 - sets four strategic priorities for our county: economy, health and care, learning and skills and residents and communities.”

Councillor Rosemarie Harris, Leader of the Council said: “Powys is a wonderful county to live, work and play. We are looking for an exceptional individual who can take the organisation forward to help deliver Vision 2025 – our blueprint for the county to deliver an open and enterprising council.

“As an organisation, we are on a major transformational and improvement journey. Some key areas have not been performing at the high standard our residents rightly expect and we are determined to address these shortcomings.”
