Fears for the future of Rodney's Pillar

25/11/2018 @ 08:36

The future of the famous Rodney’s Pillar at Criggion will be discussed at a public meeting on Tuesday night.

Residents raised concerns over the stability of the structure and local community councils commissioned a survey which identified the need for significant work.

A grant has since been utilised to pay for consultants to identify the importance of the structure to local people, its ownership, and some suggested ways forward.

Their report will be presented at the meeting in Criggion Village Hall at 7-30mpn on Tuesday and anyone who is interested is invited to attend.

Admiral Rodney's Pillar is a pillar built on Breidden Hill. It was built in 1781–82 to commemorate the naval victories of Sir George Brydges Rodney, Admiral of the White.
