Film memories of Welshpool
A host of well known faces from Welshpool’s past can be seen on two films posted on YouTube by a former resident.
Robert Jones, who was born and raised in Welshpool and now lives in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, came across some family film footage of a high profile event which took place in Welshpool back in 1987 and has shared it so that lots of Welshpool people can see themselves or relatives on screen.
The event was the Silver Jubilee of the Royal Army Service Corps and the Royal Corps of Transport Association (Montgomeryshire Branch) and shows a parade through the town and footage from a service at St Mary’s Church.
The parade later moved on for a celebration and presentations at the former Workingmen’s Club where the camera captured images of many of the town’s well known characters of the day.
