A cut above the rest!

A tremendous gesture of community giving has been reported at Welshpool Hospital when a barber cut off more than he had planned!

The barber had been asked by a woman to ‘pop in’ to the hospital to cut her husband’s hair, but several hours later he was still there after volunteering to provide free haircuts to the rest of the patients.

“When I arrived for my shift there was a queue in the Maldwyn Ward day room to the door!” said Staff Nurse Jen Henry. “It was such a lovely gesture; we are all so impressed.”

The barber in question has been named as Mohamed Kadir, from Istanbul Barbers in Oswestry, and his generosity has been praised by health officials with Powys Teaching Health Board saying in a statement: “We truly live in an amazing community here in Powys and the borders. Thank you so much to everyone who made this happen.”

Mohamed had originally been asked by the lady to ‘pop in’ during the day on Monday for the one trim, but it was well after 8.30pm when he eventually left the hospital.

Ward Sister Claire Robbins said: “All the gents look like bobby dazzlers today!”
