The Welshpool Area Group, which supports the narrow gauge steam railway between the town and Llanfair Caereinion, is to hold its first meeting of 2019 on Monday.

As has become customary for the meeting at this time of year, local people will have a chance to show some of their own photographs and give short presentations on transport-related subjects.

Among the subjects likely to be aired during the evening will be an account of aerial photography in a time before drones, and new departures in ‘light rail’, including the development of the Sheffield tram-trains and recent and pending extensions to tramways elsewhere in the UK.

Anyone who is intending to bring digital or other images to show is urged to contact Vice-Chairman Steve Page in advance on 01686 650102 to discuss technical requirements.

The meeting will be held in the Council Chamber of Welshpool Town Hall from 7.30pm.

Members and non-members are welcome to attend and a small charge of £3 will be made to cover costs. Tea, coffee and biscuits are available, and there will be a raffle.
