Accused shoplifter was carrying knife

It has been revealed that a shoplifter arrested for six thefts in Welshpool was also found to be armed with a knife.

The unnamed accused was charged and remanded in custody for six shop thefts, mostly in Welshpool, and possession of a bladed article (pictured).

The custody officer at Newtown Police Station tweeted that the arrested person told him that “it’s for protection” and then added they were “carrying it to fix a curtain pole”.
