New committee for ’40s Weekend

It’s become one of Welshpool’s favourite weekends, and at the Annual Meeting a 2019 committee was appointed to take the event forward.

Founder Alan Crowe will once again be Chairman, with Mel Parkes his Deputy.

Other appointments were: Treasurer, Liz Gannon; Secretary, Heather Parkes; Schools Liaison, Yvonne Naylor; Businesses Liaison, Sheila Beedles and Wendy Johnstone; Volunteer Co-ordinator, Sheila Beedles.

The event will take place from September 27-29.

Meanwhile, a fund raising 1940s Dance will be held this Saturday (February 16) at Meole Brace Village Hall, Shrewsbury from 7.30pm. Admission is £5 (bring your own food & drinks).

A cash bingo will take place at the Corn Exchange on Thursday, February 21, from 7pm; and a fun quiz night will be held in the Church House on Friday, March 8, from 7.30pm.

Keith Slater’s 60s Celebration will appear at the Church House on March 16 with tickets available in advance from Welshpool Jewellers.
