Claim if train makes you 15 minutes late

19/02/2019 @ 10:31

Local Assembly Member Eluned Morgan is urging residents in the Welshpool area to be aware of new rules for claiming compensation if a train is late in Wales.

The changes that came into force at the end of January mean that people who are delayed by more than 15 minutes can claim money back.

Claims are based around the time you should have arrived at your final destination station as opposed to the delay time on a specific train.

Eluned Morgan AM said: “The ‘delay repay’ scheme which improves on previous compensation schemes has been introduced by the new rail franchise holder, Transport for Wales.

“Listening to rail commuters has been key to working on our ambitious plans to improve rail services in all parts of Wales and that includes reducing the time limit to which compensation is triggered.”

Transport for Wales will look into any claims received within 28 days of a completed journey.

Claims can be made online at https://tfwrail.wales/delay-repay-compensation

Make sure you have to hand:

·      The date of your journey

·      The time of the train that was delayed

·      The origin and destination of your journey

·      A scan or photo of the tickets purchased for your journey
