Welshpool scheme lands award
Pave Aways has been presented with a Bronze certificate in the Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Awards 2019 for its work on the 5,500m² Invertek Drives Ltd facility at Offa’s Dyke Business Park.
The new build, which was completed in 2018 on behalf of the Welsh Government, is adjacent to Invertek’s global headquarters and innovation centre and was constructed to provide additional capacity for the variable frequency drives (VFD) company to meet the growing global demand for its services.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a non-profit-making, independent organisation set up by the construction industry in 1997 to improve its image.
Sites are judged on how they rate against the scheme’s five-point Code of Considerate Practice including appearance, respect to the community, protecting the environment, securing safety and valuing their workforce.
Site Manager Elwyn Preece collected the award on Pave Aways’ behalf at a ceremony in Manchester.
Steven Owen, Managing Director of the firm which is based near Oswestry, said: “The Considerate Constructors Scheme’s National Awards are a highly anticipated event in the construction industry’s calendar that recognises achievements in the advancement of the considerate construction ethos.
“At all our sites, our impact on the community and health, safety and welfare of our workers and the public is paramount. We are delighted that the hard work of Elwyn and our team has been rewarded with this prestigious national award and it was very well deserved.”
Invertek Drives Ltd, which designs and manufactures variable frequency drives for motor and motion control, has begun manufacturing at the new facility where it will be able to handle up to 500,000 VFDs a year.
