11/04/2011 @ 02:09

The day after police heralded a breakthrough in the hunt for drain cover thieves, the local force has appealed for information following a spate of bike thefts.

Mywelshpool announced yesterday (Sunday) that a 17 year-old had been arrested following the latest theft of drain covers in Guilsfield which came as a result of vigilant residents.

And now they are asking for people in the Llanfyllin and Llanrhaeadr areas to keep their eyes peeled.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating a series of pedal cycle thefts in the Llanfyllin and Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant areas and the public is being asked to lock away any pedal cycles or property they may have and not to leave valuables unattended.

“Police in Welshpool have recovered a BMX from the Dolydd Workhouse in Llanfyllin and are appealing to any person that may have had a bike stolen or go missing, to come forward and identify it.”

If anyone has any information regarding these thefts please contact Welshpool Police on 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
