Full house for Arddleen, Meifod pylon fights

13/04/2011 @ 01:31

Large public support for the campaigns against Energy plans in Montgomeryshire have been reported at the latest meetings in Meifod and Arddleen.

Up to 500 residents gave their feedback through forms available in Meifod while in Arddleen, hundreds attended the National Grid’s weekend exhibition which has visited towns and villages across the county.

Our correspondent at the Arddleen gathering said that while voices were raised, overall the information available was extensive.

“I have to say I was impressed with the information available, plus the willingness of the staff to answer all questions,” said our correspondent. “It was a shame some people thought that shouting and getting angry with the staff was a way forward. The majority of people who attended are against it for sure though.”

Local MP Glyn Davies has told campaigners he will attend their public meeting on Friday in Llandrinio.

The fight against the multi-billion pound Energy development for Mid Wales will reach its peak next Wednesday when a mass public meeting, called by Mr Davies, will be held at Welshpool Livestock Sales.

Meanwhile, there will be a public meeting held in Forden Community Centre tomorrow night (Thursday) at 7.30pm.
