Plea to find former soldier’s Welshpool family

A plea has been made to find the relatives of a former soldier with connections to the Welshpool area who passed away in Wolverhampton recently.

The City of Wolverhampton Council said it has drawn a blank in trying to find the family of former army cook, Lance William Gill, so that his funeral can be arranged. Mr Gill passed away at the age of 62.

“He had been living in the Wednesfield area of Wolverhampton and had previously lived in Oxley,” said Diane Washbrook, Protection and Funeral Officer with the City of Wolverhampton Council.

“I think he lived in Wolverhampton for most of his life, he wasn’t homeless and his friend said that he had a brother living in Welshpool.

“If anyone is related to or knows Mr Gill, or has any information which may help trace his relatives or friends, please contact me on on 01902 555333 or diane.washbrook@wolverhampton.gov.uk.”
