Just say ‘no’!

First it was cigarette butts, and now it is ATM receipts that have drawn the ire of the town council who have issued another public litter plea to the town.

With a growing number of visitors coming through the town for the 'summer' months, the town’s cash machines are busy but the litter they are causing has visibly increased.

And now it has prompted the following plea from the Town Clerk, Robert Robinson:

“A litter plea: To those who use the banks and take receipts from the ATM and either throw it on the pavement or miss the bin provided. Please can we ask that you press the button saying 'no' when the machine asks if you want a receipt. This is particularly bad around the Lloyds Bank ATM. Thank you.”

Over the past year, the town declared war on the growing cigarette butt problem in the centre. The local businesses have played their part in helping the street clean team by sweeping up the public areas at the front of their properties, making a huge difference.
