The latest one-way news…

23/07/2019 @ 09:31

The countdown is on to the end of the work that is supposed to turn the town’s much maligned one-way system into a smoother running network.

We have been promised a July 29 finish, and the latest update provided by the Town Council on behalf of the contractors this evening shows we are still on track!

The Town Council says it is still unhappy that Brook Street, Union Street and Church Bank to Red Bank junction will be closed this evening until 6am to complete all the white and yellow lining. Jehu Road is also closed for the same period. There will be access to properties along these roads and some limited noise with washer machines. The diversion for cars will be via Guilsfield Road and Red Bank.

Other updates include:

·      Works along Union Street continue and are planned to complete by the weekend.

·      Brook Street and Union Street (pictured) return to two way traffic along their full length on Saturday evening at midnight. It will be open for traffic after that.

·      Works to Broad Street by the Town Hall to be completed by the weekend.

·      Works to the junction with High Street/Jehu Road will be completed by the weekend.

·      Works to the area of Broad Street by the Cross are unlikely to be completed by the weekend.

·      Works to Church Street will be completed by the weekend.

·      Some signage will be completed by the weekend, other signage (further out from the town) will follow.

There will be another update on Wednesday.
