Ted’s Last Post on August 5

Veterans and serving soldiers from across the country are expected to pay their last respects to war hero Edward (Ted) Pryce Jones on Monday, August 5.

Ted passed away on Monday in Shrewsbury Hospital just weeks before his 100^th birthday, sparking a wave of tributes to an incredible man who saw action in Europe, Burma and Madagascar in World War II.

His heroics in single handedly taking out Japanese machine gun positions in Burma earned him the Military Medal.

He returned to his native Mid Wales for a quieter life as a farmer, and his funeral will take place at Guilsfield Church at 1pm, followed by his cremation in Shrewsbury at 2.45pm and after at the village's Community Centre.
