Biker who died in Welshpool smash named

As another accident caused more traffic chaos on the outskirts of Welshpool this afternoon, police have released the name of a young man who died in an accident close to the town last weekend.

In what has been a black week of accidents for the town, police say that Lee Ferguson (pictured), 26, died at the scene of the crash near to the entrance to Welshpool Golf Club on Saturday.

Mr Ferguson, from Halesowen, Dudley, suffered fatal injuries after his silver coloured Suzuki motorcycle collided with a Toyota Land Cruiser four-wheeler.

Dyfed-Powys Police has issued an appeal for dash cam footage from anyone driving in the area at around 5.50pm.

Anyone with any information or anyone who may have witnessed the incident should call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101 quoting 298 of August 3.

This week has seen four serious accidents close to the town, with this afternoon’s on Cefn Bridge involving another motorcycle and a van. There are no reports on the condition of those involved but the Air Ambulance was in attendance.
