Do you use 480 plastic bottles a year?

Powys County Council has estimated that the average person in the Welshpool area uses 480 plastic bottles every year.

The regional authority claims that we contribute to 60 million plastic bottles being used every single year across the county, so it is making its own efforts to lead by example.

“We have handed reusable water bottles to our highways and recycling crews to help them stay hydrated this summer,” said a spokesperson.

“The bottles, made from recycled plastic, have been handed to the crews to protect them from the hot weather but also help us reduce the impact on the environment by reducing the amount of single-use plastic we use.”

Powys County Council added that it has already taken measures in their offices to reduce single-use plastics use and is now extending efforts to the front-line services.
