Montgomeryshire’s fight against monstrous energy plans goes urban on Saturday with a plea from campaigners to show your support.
Protest stands will be located at several locations in both Welshpool and Newtown to collect signatures, comments and suggestions from residents to further galvanise the county’s fight against plans that will change the local skyline forever.
Alison Davies from the campaign group Conservation of Upland Montgomeryshire, revealed the Saturday protest at Wednesday’s mass meeting when more than 1,000 residents declared war on the Welsh Assembly-backed plans.
“We urge you to all come along, tell your family and friends. Do whatever you can. We have to keep the momentum going and keep fighting these horrific proposals,” she said.
Stands will be located at Morrison’s, Tesco as well as on the street in Welshpool while Newtown will see stands in Bear Lanes and Morrison’s.
Energy Giants National Grid and Scottish Power are hoping to erect 800 new wind turbines along with the infrastructure to carry the power across the border into England including pylons and substations.
