Members of the public are invited to attend a meeting that will decide whether Welshpool Town Council will back a controversial plan to change the library into offices.
The council will meet on August 28 from 7pm in the Town Hall Council Chamber to discuss the change-of-use proposal that has proved very unpopular in the town.
Powys County Council is handing over its ailing Neuadd Maldwyn building to a care provider with the knock-on effect meaning that some staff will be relocated to the town’s library.
More than 4,000 people have signed a petition to oppose the move which will see the library service downsized and moved in with the Powysland Museum.
The Town Council backed a campaign to stop the move, and will provide its official recommendation at the meeting.
