Thieves target Welshpool car parts
The MyWelshpool reader, who asked not to be named, contacted us to say that she had been targeted on Gungrog Road last Thursday night with a specific part of her car removed.
“I would like to make the residents of Welshpool and the surrounding areas aware of an incident that happened to me at the end of last week,” she told us.
“Last Thursday night whilst we slept, somebody came with pipe cutters and cut the diesel particulate filter off my car whilst it was parked outside my home.
“I have had this confirmed by a mechanic who couldn’t believe what he was seeing and it has been reported to the police. I wish to make residents aware of this crime so that they remain vigilant to vandals going around cutting these off diesel cars and catalytic converters off petrol cars to sell at a high monetary value for scrap.
“I have been informed that I am one of many affected lately. It turns out this is going to cost me quite considerably financially.”
