Fallen tree blocks canal path

It hasn’t just been the floods causing carnage over the past few days as this photograph sent in by reader Fred Cooper shows.

A large oak tree has fallen from the western canal bank with the trunk bridging the canal itself. The crown of the tree is completely blocking the towpath and adjacent grass verge, with the top of the crown tangled in the hedge line. 

The tree is down about 300m south of Belan Old School Bridge (no. 123). The relevant authority has been informed.
