Like a fine wine, Forden runner Andrew Davies is getting better with age after smashing a British record at Sunday’s Valencia Marathon.

The former semi-professional footballer (pictured), who turned 40 in October, ran a new personal best of two hours 14 minutes and 36 seconds, smashing the British record for his V40 age group by a whopping 40 seconds.

“I’ve been waiting a while to have a go at it!” he told us last night. “It was a brilliant weekend. I have a lot of people to thank for their support.”

With no sign of slowing up, Andrew is now plotting his next events and said he will sit down with his coach to discuss.

“I don’t know what’s happening for next year yet, as I need to have a meeting with the coach to discuss, but I am sure there will be some exciting ultra-marathon plans/trail running for next year!”

Andrew has enjoyed an incredible running career and in 2018, he won the 35-39 age category at the World Masters Mountain Running Championships. He has also finished 11th and 17th at the last two Commonwealth Games for Wales.
