Police are appealing for information following the horror smash on Friday night which resulted in three people being taken to hospital.

The accident happened at around 11.20pm at a notorious black spot on the A458 at Buttington, and closed the road until late morning Saturday.

“A serious collision took place, and we’d like to speak to witnesses or anyone with information that could help establish the circumstances of the incident,” aid a police spokesperson.

A blue Citroen Saxo was travelling from Welshpool towards Shrewsbury when it collided with a red Fiat 500 on the oncoming lane. The Fiat then hit an electrical pole, causing power outages to nearby properties.

A short time later, a silver Renault Clio which was travelling from the Welshpool direction collided with the front of the Saxo. The driver of the Saxo sustained serious injuries.

The driver and passengers in the Fiat were taken to hospital with injuries which are currently being assessed.

“Anyone who saw any of the three vehicles before the incident, particularly anyone with dash cam footage, is asked to get in touch with Dyfed-Powys Police. Call 101, quoting Storm reference 395 of January 24,” said the spokesperson.
