Emergency services are in for a busy night after the River Severn burst its banks and is already creating havoc on our roads.
The occupants of two stranded cars, including a dog, have been rescued this evening by Welshpool fire fighters on the airport straight, while the main road to Llanymynech is proving treacherous from Four Crosses.
Elsewhere, the Llanfair Caereinion road has closed near Banwy Fuels as Powys County Council staff also battle around the clock put diversions into place across the county.
Storm Ciara wreaked havoc this morning in Montgomeryshire, bringing down trees with winds in excess of 75mph recorded locally. It also brought heavy rain which is likely to impact the roads and rail for the next 24 hours.
The Cambrian train line between Shrewsbury and Aberystwyth is expected to remain closed on Monday, with travellers advised to check here.
The local forecast is grim. More rain and wind are expected into Monday night with temperatures also remaining low into Tuesday.
