Welshpool’s lack of public seating will soon be solved by a new initiative that allows residents to enjoy a lasting memory of lost loved ones.
The town’s council has rubber stamped a proposal that enables residents to buy memorial benches to be located throughout the town.
Welshpool suffers from a lack of public seating, and in the past it has also been difficult for families to leave a lasting mark for the deceased.
But the Town Council has given the green light to a proposal from Councillor Phil Pritchard to make memorial benches available.
“Locations will be identified in co-ordination with Powys County Council and then offered to residents on request,” said Town Clerk, Robert Robinson.
It is thought that families will be asked to pay around £350 for the privilege.
