Five-year old dies in Welshpool car smash

 

The accident happened a mile north of Welshpool at 5.25pm when two cars were involved – a gold Citroen Saxo and a Red Nissan – resulting in the death of the youngster at the scene. Three other people were taken to hospital.

 

The road was closed until 10.20am today for police to carry out investigations into the accident and they have appealed for information.

 

“This is a tragic accident and our deepest sympathies are with the family of the young boy,” said a police spokesperson. “If you were a witness to the accident, please contact us on 101 as an investigation commenced immediately.”

 

Doctors were joined on the scene by both the air ambulance and road ambulances and two fire engines from Welshpool assisted in clearing up the debris.
