Pharmacies change opening hours

25/03/2020 @ 02:04

The town’s pharmacies are advising customers to keep checking on opening hours each day after queues were seen forming over the last couple of mornings.

This morning, several people were gathering at a safe distance apart outside Rowlands and Boots waiting for them to open at 10am, and the advice from Powys Teaching Health Board (PTHB) is for people to monitor the times before coming into town.

Both are opening at 10am for the time being, with Rowlands closing at 5pm and Boots shutting up at 4.30pm but with a cleaning break closure in the middle (correct as of noon, March 25). They are also operating strict policies for entering the premises which means customers are having to wait at a safe distance apart outside.

“Community pharmacies across the country are working hard under extreme pressure,” said a PTHB spokesperson.

“This week the Government has announced further measures to help pharmacies deliver vital services. We are truly grateful for your patience and support, but your local pharmacy may need to work differently to help them to help you.”

The advice remains to not visit a pharmacy if you or anyone in your household has a temperature or a new and continuous cough, even if it’s mild. They also request people to plan ahead where possible by ordering prescriptions seven days before it is due.
