Important update from Welshpool Doctors

25/03/2020 @ 06:51

MyWelshpool is working closely with our hard working frontline services to ensure their important messages are reaching you.

Please find below the latest information from Drs Russell & Partners covering Welshpool Medical Centre and Guilsfield Surgery.

Important news

Please can I take the opportunity to thank all of our patients for your co-operation, patience and understanding during these unprecedented times.

The Government continues to announce additional measures to seek to reduce the spread across the whole of the UK.

In response to these changes, this letter is our request asking for your help with the following areas:

Stockpiling

We have been advised that we should not increase the amount of repeat medication that we prescribe or dispense to our patients. This will cause more harm to the overall NHS than good. If, however, we are further instructed to change our work practice, we will act accordingly.

Self-isolation notes

Please DO NOT contact the practice as we are UNABLE TO ISSUE THESE NOTES. Please go to 111.nhs.uk/isolation-note/ if you have been told to stay at home and your employers are requesting a note.

Our lines are absolutely flooded with calls from our most vulnerable patients and we just cannot cope with the amount of information seeking calls that have been received into the practice this week.  Please can you help yourselves where possible?

Rescue packs

Lots of stories floating around on Facebook. Our eligible patients will have already been supported where clinically necessary with appropriate medication. Please do not ring the main or dispensary number. This is causing increased pressure on our diminishing workforce.

Self-care advice

Please update yourself by logging into www.nhsdirect.wales.nhs.uk.

As we continue to enter into a period of uncertainty, a number of our patients have expressed concern about how they are going to continue to collect medications either from ourselves or local Pharmacies. Our local village communities are really coming together and are organising daily pickups. Please can I suggest that you get hold of your local Councillor, particular to your address and postcode who I am sure will be more than willing to help you?

PAVO are another really good source of help and you can contact them by emailing covid19@pavo.org.uk.

The delivery of patient care is paramount to us all. The Practice Team are under incredible pressure and we are doing our very best for you all, at this increasingly worrying time.  What is really helping is the volume of praise and appreciation that the Practice Team are receiving at this very difficult time. Thank you very much for your continued support and co-operation.
