A Welshpool man has been jailed for nearly three years after pleading guilty to six counts of sexual activity with a child over a two-month period in 2018.
Christopher Gittins, 23, was part of the BoogieStorm performance troupe, but was accused of using his position as a local dance instructor to groom a boy before sexually assaulting him.
He was jailed for two years and nine months today (Thursday) at Caernarfon Crown Court, where he appeared via a video link.
The Sun reports that prosecutor, John Philpotts, said Gittins was arrested after the youngster's mum found Facebook messages to her son. The victim later told officers he had performed sex acts with Gittins at nature reserves as well as other places in and around the town.
In a victim impact statement read to the court, his mother said to Gittins: “You groomed him and took advantage of him.”
Defending, John Hedgecoe said: “He's indicated remorse and accepted his responsibility.”
